Ebooks in the classroom

Ebooks in the classroom seem to be a great thing because they are much like books but have other features. One feature is that students would be able to read the books and have the words be highlighted as they read each one. This makes it easier for the student to see the word they are saying. Another is having the words light up as they are being read by someone else. this makes it easier for the teacher if they have more than one group doing work at the same time. My question is how will that affect the student when they go to read a text book or a book that is not available on the Internet? I believe that ebooks are great but that they should not be over used. If a teacher and or parent can moderate the use and make sure it is not getting abused or hurting the child's reading ability than they are wonderful. However like many other things such as educational games that are available on the Internet get abused. This is because students are not being watched closely enough.

Learning from Experience "B"

When I visited an elementary school I saw that there were five computers in the classroom. One was the teachers and the other four were the students. However all five were accessible by the students. The students were able to play educational games when they finished their desk work but were not allowed to advance past their grade level. The problem with that is that some of the students were past their grade level and some of the students were held back from the previous year. This means that the students who were able to do work beyond the first grade level were not given the opportunity. This made it evident to me that educational games are made to help so schools should not limit the ability of the student by not allowing them to think and mature to their full potential. Moreover, some of the students did not finish their work and went a head and played the games. The games are not the problem it is how they are handled in the classroom and when they are used.
